Please Stay Tuned For Oppurtunities to Volunteer in 2015!
Since its inception in 2003, the Brooklyn Children's Holiday Fund is committed to helping every child, regardless of income, have a happy holiday season. We strongly believe that no child should go without warm clothes and nutritious food - not to mention a few gifts at the holidays - and we work hard to ensure that happens.
Throughout the year, BCHF works to identify less fortunate families in Brooklyn, NY that we can help have a happier holiday season. In 2015 we will partner with an emergency family homeless shelter in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
Each family, selected entirely on the basis of need, is chosen in September of each year. The children are asked to write letters to "Santa" asking for specific gifts. Volunteers shop for the children using funds raised throughout the year for clothing, toys (trying to purchase the toys specifically asked for by the children in their "Santa" letters), school supplies and books.
BCHF throws a day-long party for the children and their families during which there are two arts and crafts projects run by local teachers, photos with Santa, a warm and nutritious meal. At the end of the party, the children leave with their huge bag of wrapped gifts.
